You should run your pool pump for an average of 8 hours per day to properly circulate and clean your water. As temperatures rise above 80 degrees you should run your system between 8 and 12 hours daily. The goal is to turn over the entire contents of your each day.

Plan to check your pool chemicals at least twice a week. This is especially true if the pool is used on a daily basis. If your pool isn't used every day, you might be fine checking the levels once a week.

A variety of factors influence how frequently you should invest in pool filter cleaning services, including the type of pool filter, environmental factors, the size of your pool, and how frequently your pool is used.

However, as a general guideline cartridge filters should be cleaned once a month, or whenever the pressure gauge reaches 25 PSI or higher. 

D.E. filters should be backwashed once a month or whenever there is a pressure increase of 5-10 PSI.

Sand filters should be backwashed once a week, but this may need to be increased depending on the size of your pool and how frequently you use it.
